Shmee150 Chooses QuickSilver for his Ford GT Exhaust
Youtuber Shmee150 contacted us about developing a better exhaust system for his beloved Ford GT
We were of course happy to oblige.
From factory, the car comes with a Stainless Steel rear section. Though strong, it's rather heavy and muted in the sound department. Ford offer an optional sport system made entirely from Titanium, which has less internal silencing and less than hald the weight. Despite being slightly louder, it proved to be unreliable.

Ford's own Titanium Sport exhaust was fitted to Shmee150's Ford GT, which covered some considerable mileage. However, after time, the system developed cracks as Titanium can become brittle following many heat cycles.
QuickSilver Special Projects department examined how, where and why the failures occurred and designed a solution that will out perform its predecessor in every possible way.
Firstly, the sound! We removed the rear box all together while retaining an X pipe to keep the banks mixing. This means they're not out of phase, but essentially straight piped for maximum acoustics.
The X-pipe is clearly visible so the gases can interchange and unique to his GT, we custom branded the system with his logo.
We chose Inconel as a material over Titanium, as its stronger, lighter and can withstand greater heat cycles at higher temperatures - this means it should last a lifetime!
The system was also Cerakoted (ceramic based heat resistant coating) to help reduce heat transfer and stress to surrounding components by up to 20%.
The coating withstands temperatures of up to 980°c and also aids flow for the exiting exhaust gases.
The uncoated / raw tail pipes are rolled back double skinned Inconel which due to its strength can be used in incredibly thin thicknesses.
