The Land Rover Defender is an iconic British staple, and a rugged utilitarian vehicle beloved by those who live down muddy pathways.
However, across all the petrol and diesel models, we can see there's a need for a sound solution, and that's where we come in.
We've been making new-style Defender exhausts for nearly 5 years now, going through some new developments, and some redevelopments to ensure you're getting the very best from your car.
We're having a bit of a head-to-head with our trusty fleet diesel Defender with our amazing sound generator system vs the brutal P535 V8 model, also with our Sound Architect exhaust system.
We've discussed this before back in 2023, but since then, our diesel Defender system's actually become our best seller for 2 years on the trot, so we thought it was time for a refresher course.
Let's start with the cars themselves, the diesel Defender, practically silent from stock, and desperately in need of a voice. Then there's the P525 V8, which isn't short of volume, but sorely lacking in tone.
This is where we wave the QuickSilver magic wand - we give the diesel an actual soundtrack at the back, and better still, it's a V8 sound with none of the scary fuel economy.
For the P525, it's getting a full cat-back exhaust system in T304 stainless steel, which reduces the silencer size at the front and the back, unleashing that V8 but also refining the tone, and providing some lovely pops and bangs on the overrun.
Best part of both of these systems is the ability to go from loud to quiet at the press of a button.
The V8 has our new and improved Sound Architect valve control, using a standalone wireless key fob, meaning you can manage the level of sound, just in case you need to keep it quiet when going to work in the morning.
The diesel system is as simple, the sound generator module is wired into the CAN BUS (the central nervous system of the car), so you can operate it using the Auto Stop/Start button on your dashboard - don't worry, a full install guide is provided with every order.
Just double tap the button to turn the sound generator on and off, while still maintaining the full functionality of the Stop/Start feature.
We took both of these out on the road, and while there's a clear difference between the two, you can't be anything other than amazed at what we've brought out of the diesel, and how we've refined the V8 for better tone, over flat noise.
If you've got a Defender, but not a diesel or V8, don't panic, you can still get QS equipped. We've got systems for the P300, P400, P425, P400e and of course, the OCTA (pictured below).
There's a reason these two systems in particular are our best sellers, and if you need further proof, just ask one of our hundreds of satisfied customers.
