BMW M Performance Exhausts - Quicksilver's Guide To The M Series

October 16, 2018

Quicksilver Exhausts design tailored performance exhaust systems for BMW M series cars, including the M140i, M240i, M2, M3 and M4. Read on for our introductory guide to the high performance M series and a closer look at some of the popular models that we have crafted superior BMW exhaust systems for.

The M series was launched in the early 1970s by BMW, who wanted to create cars designed for racing which were based on their road models. The result of this was the M1 supercar, the first BMW car with an ‘M’ title, which was unveiled at a motor show in Paris in 1978. After many strives forward since, BMW M cars have become a popular choice for those seeking a practical everyday car that will also satisfy a hunger for speed.

The ‘M’ in BMW’s M series is short for ‘motorsport’, so as a general rule whenever you see ‘M’ in the title of BMW model, you can assume that it will be fast. Our BMW M performance exhaust systems complement these speedy motors to provide you with the ultimate high performance driving experience.

Today, there are a large variety of different BMW M models available on the market. There are so many that for those not familiar with BMW cars, it can easily become confusing. The different M models all have unique features which cater for different demands. Here is an overview of some of the different ranges in the series that Quicksilver have crafted enhancing sport exhaust systems for:

BMW M2

The BMW M2 is the smallest and most affordable M car available. Successfully combining high performance with rear wheel drive, the M2’s exterior design optimises air flow and aerodynamics. Its’ six cylinder engine and sports suspension provide a thrilling driving experience. When it comes to performance and handling, it rivals cars such as the Porsche Cayman GTS and the Audi RS3. BMW have also launched an improved ‘competition’ M2, with an impressive 410bhp.

 BMW M3

BMW M3s are arguably some of the best performance cars on the market. While they do not come cheap, we think that they are worth every penny for their engineering excellence. The new BMW M3 saloon is fitted with a twin turbo six cylinder engine, which will provide you with 431bhp, or 451bhp in its competition variant. Throughout the evolution of M3 range, BMW have retained its rear wheel drive and manual gearbox option.

BMW M4

Available in a coupe or convertible version, the BMW M4 is a sophisticated, well rounded high performance car modelled on the M3. Its interior is just as spacious as a regular 4 series so it is well suited to comfortably carry four people with luggage. Though, lets not forget that this is a BMW M series motor, so for all its everyday practical use, it can get round a track very quickly well. The M4 will reach 62mph in 4.1 seconds and even more impressively, in just 8.6 seconds it can hit 100mph. These are figures that supercars were achieving not too long ago. The convertible option especially is a very attractive car.

Quicksilver have developed a sports BMW M4 performance exhaust system which perfectly suits the cars varied uses - it allows for the switch between a refined tone to crazy race car loud in an instant.

BMW M140i and BMW M240i

The M140i and M240i are two very similar, small, fast and affordable BMW cars. The main difference between them is that the M140i is a hatchback whereas the M240i is a coupe. Naturally this makes the M140i the more spacious option, as it is available in 3 or 5 door configurations. However, if your lifestyle affords you the luxury, the M240i coupe feels a bit nicer to drive in terms of handling and performance.

Our BMW M140i and M240i sports exhaust systems allow the driver to switch from stealth to sport mode from the press of a button on a key fob.
