When Porsche Art Imitates.... Porsche Art?

Art cars are always a bone of contention in the petrol head community, though one thing everyone can agree on is that they get our attention!

So when Porsche showed off the New Taycan all electric 4S Art Car we turned our head. Designed by artist Richard Philips this Art Car is no exception with his striking rendition on his painting 'Queen of the Night'.

Philips has worked with Porsche in the past designing the drivers helmet for Jörg Bergmeister for his drive in the 2013 LeMans race and then in 2019 designing the 911 RSR Art Car for Porsche Works.

This Taycan Art Car uses a more environmentally agreeable design with as much biodiversity crammed onto the surface as possible.

The natural elements jut out at you with their striking colours and form which seem to bend and move towards the rear of the car creating a sense of progression as we head on into an all electric future.

Porsche's as car canvas's seem to lend themselves more generously to artistic flare, perhaps its their flowing almost bulbus curves or perhaps their rich motorsport history and liveries like Martini Porsches or the the Blood Orange 934 Jagermeister car and of course the 917 'Pink Pig' LeMans Car.

Way back in 2014 Our own 'in house' Porsche was treated to the artists brush when we needed to create an art car to promote our ceramic coating process on our exhaust systems. With exhausts relatively unseen and only heard finding a way to market any unique and special feature visually can and does remain challenging!

Our answer... The 'Porshcelain' a white 911 997 GT2 wrapped in a ceramic willow pattern design. Every detail was considered and the livery was an industry first. The design was printed onto a unique transparent vinyl as our in-house creative team wanted the design to sit into the bodywork not on top, as if baked on under the laquer. The translucent vinyl over time would also discolour in places as the glue aged for further depth and add to appearance of an antique valuable vase.

Our marketing and creative team also designed our ceramic livery to look different from different perspectives. From far away it was just like any Blue and White Racing Car, Closer the willow pattern becomes an apparent feature and close up a seamless ceramic crackle glaze effect meaning every inch of the white was suitably wrapped.

As with our ceramic coating process every necessary inch is covered for optimum performance. Our coating offers temperature reductions of over 110 degrees C at the manifold, resulting in a reduction of over 27.5 degrees C in under bonnet temperature and power increases of up to 5.5%.  The coating originally developed for the defence and Nuclear industries offers proven performance gains and is extremely durable and stone chip resistant.

Now used extensively in top level Motor Sport our Ceramic Coat option offers greater performance / reduced surface and ambient temperatures  / highly effective corrosion barrier and a tough hard wearing shell coating whilst adding a truly unique look and finish to your system.
